WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT WORKSHOP OFFERINGS


Resumes That Get Results – 6 hours

Offered the 1st through 21st of every month (using technology, small groups, mobile, or electronic modalities)
Our resume course gives you an opportunity to understand the purpose, review the general guidelines and learn how to develop a “resume that will get results” at a day and time convenient for you, face-to-face or using technology. Learn how to assemble the initial building blocks of your resume, including a summary, employment history, design accomplishments and deliverables, how to forward a resume in the digital format and research labor market trends. Electronic cover letters and references will also be discussed.You may choose the components you wish for your custom workshop.

Ace that Interview – 1 hour

Offered the 1st through 21st of every month (using technology, small groups, mobile, or electronic modalities)
Review general guidelines to improve your interviewing skills and gain “a behind the scenes” insight into the interview process. Learn about the different types of interviews, overcoming obstacles and avoiding common mistakes. Topics to be covered are basic guidelines, traditional questions, behavioral-based questions and telephone interviews.

Surviving a Layoff – 2 hours

Offered the 1st through 21st of every month (using technology, small groups, mobile, or electronic modalities)
Have you been laid off from your job? Is it getting harder to manage financially? Attend the “Surviving a Layoff” workshop to learn tips to make your layoff a little easier, and tools you will need to make your reentry back into the workforce.

Developing Your Job Search Plan – 2 hours

Offered the 1st through 21st of every month (using technology, small groups, mobile, or electronic modalities)
Explore the importance of having a Job Search plan. Learn about the general guidelines and key parts that make it an effective tool and gaining more insight on how to develop and evaluate a target list of companies for your job search. Walk out each session with a strong start in developing a focus plan for your success.

How to find and apply for Federal Government Jobs – 2.5 hours (TBA)

A workshop that will teach participants on how to find and apply for Federal jobs in the DC metro area. Federal resume writing tutorial included. You may choose the components you wish for your custom workshop.

Negotiating Your Salary – 1 hour

Offered the 1st through 21st of every month (using technology, small groups, mobile, or electronic modalities)
Learn how to successfully negotiate your new salary by recognizing what can be negotiated and the steps involved with the process, along with gaining an understanding for effectively closing out your job search. You will have the opportunity to practice through role playing what you learn during this workshop.

Email Etiquette – 1 hour

Offered the 1st through 21st of every month (using technology, small groups, mobile, or electronic modalities)
Gain a foundation for using email etiquette. Learn the concepts, tools and uses of email etiquette to achieve your objectives while staying relevant to customers and ensuring maximum results. Regardless of how you manage your reputation in life, your personal brand is made up in large part by your digital presence and online reputation. At the end of the workshop, you’ll walk away with actionable steps that can be implemented immediately.

Generational Business Etiquette – 2 hours (TBA)

Understanding Millennials, Baby Boomers, and all in between
Each generation has its own flair, its own way of doing what they do and their own way of thinking. Knowing this is one thing. Working with varying generations effectively and without conflict is another. This workshop helps bridge the generations seamlessly. Our workshops are informative, fun and offers positive, measureable results!

Business Etiquette and Professionalism– 2 hours (TBA)

In this workshop – appropriate for individual and corporate clients – employees learn why respect, kindness, and proper communication leads to building a civil and more positive work environment. Attendees are given tools to fend off and eliminate negative aspects of office politics. Attendees also learn business meals, and how to dress appropriately for the position they hold. This workshop is versatile. You may choose the components you wish for your custom workshop.

Beginning LinkedIn – 1.5 hours (TBA)

Gain an understanding of how using LinkedIn can assist in your job search efforts while learning how to create your profile and establish your initial contacts.
Leveraging LinkedIn for Job Search -1.5 hours (TBA) Explore groups, company Information, reaching out to contacts and searching for jobs to maximize your efforts on LinkedIn.

Your Networking Plan – 1 hour (TBA)

Networking is one of the key components of a successful job search plan, yet one that is often overlooked. Become familiar with simple networking tools and other resources to help you plan your search and promote yourself to get the job you want.

Practical tips on establishing yourself in a new position to ensure maximum success as you continue your employment journey.
